RURALITIES Showcased at AGROKOMPLEX in Slovakia

RURALITIES was presented by PEDAL Consulting at its booth during AGROKOMPLEX, held on 3–7 September 2025 in Nitra, Slovakia’s largest agricultural fair. Visitors had the chance to learn how the project supports rural education, training, and innovation.

AGROKOMPLEX, held annually in Nitra, is the most prominent agricultural and rural development exhibition in Slovakia. Each year, the fair welcomes tens of thousands of visitors, including farmers, researchers, policymakers, students, and rural stakeholders from across the country and Europe. The event provides a vital meeting point for knowledge exchange, innovation, and the future of rural areas.

At its booth, PEDAL Consulting, coordinator of the RURALITIES project, introduced how the initiative, funded under the Horizon Europe programme, supports rural education and training through innovative methods such as Living Labs and Hubs. Visitors learned how these approaches strengthen rural innovation by connecting local actors, role models, and knowledge providers across Europe.

A key highlight of the booth was the dissemination of Practice Abstracts, short and practical summaries stemming from project activities. These abstracts translate scientific and technical results into accessible knowledge that farmers, trainers, and rural stakeholders can apply directly in their daily work. Topics ranged from biofertilisers and smart sensors to sustainable agricultural practices, all geared towards climate-smart and knowledge-based rural development.

More than 92,000 visitors attended, the presence of RURALITIES at such a high-profile national fair ensured wide visibility and engagement with diverse audiences. For the local context, the event was an important opportunity to showcase the project’s European dimension while pointing to future opportunities for training and education in rural areas.

Through the project website and forthcoming activities, stakeholders across Slovakia and beyond can access RURALITIES findings, methods, and tools. These resources aim to empower rural communities with knowledge, strengthen collaboration, and inspire practical solutions to local challenges.
