Organisations and projects working to strengthen rural communities now have the opportunity to join a growing international movement as the RURALITIES project officially opens applications for the Rural Thrive50 supporter open call.
The initiative marks the first step towards the launch of Rural Thrive 2050, an EU-Africa campaign designed to connect people, projects and organisations that are driving positive change in rural areas. By bringing together research projects, businesses, local authorities, universities, civil society organisations, Living Labs and community networks, the campaign aims to create a shared platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and action that supports resilient and sustainable rural futures.
Rural Thrive 2050 is a collaborative movement that celebrates local innovation while creating opportunities for organisations to learn from one another and work together across borders.
Throughout the campaign, supporters will contribute their expertise by sharing success stories, promote innovative solutions, organise events and webinars, participate in planned activities by the RURALITIES six selected simplified rural socio-ecological systems (SIMSES) and communication activities around rural development and climate action.
In September, selected applicants will be recognised during the campaign’s official launch on 1st September 2026. The online gathering will serve to unveil the campaign’s vision, introduce its activities and explore opportunities for future collaboration with the supporters, RURALITIES consortium, and stakeholders
Participants will also discover how SIMSES will activate Rural Thrive 2050 across different territories, showcase practical examples of community-led rural transformation and create new opportunities for partnerships throughout the campaign.
Organisations and projects interested in becoming Rural Thrive 2050 Supporters are now invited to submit their applications and be part of an international network working together to shape the future of rural communities across Europe and Africa.
